Contracted to the position of Creative Director Gary Chard was armed with the task of strengthening the festivals position with a focus on developing new audiences. Given finite parades, budgets and seating capacities CHARD explored new fashion extensions that could attract the broader public. Outdoor events such as the successful ‘Red Market’ were created, the broad arts programme was expanded and sponsor funded initiatives explored and developed.
